My final project is made using the idea of beauty and chaos. I started with the image of San Campo,Venice by Joseph Mallord William Turner. This image I pixelated to separate the color from the content. The color was my focus.
I tried various ways to deconstruct the image. I experimented with mixing the colors in the painting to help me get to know the work. I used photoshop to isolate different areas and to deconstruct the composition.
Painting pixelated squares was my first inclination. Next I moved on to wooden blocks. My instructor suggested using paint chips. I found that to be challenging and learned a new method of construction.
Through trial and error I discovered that paint samples could be used like a paint brush. They can be dabbed on freely once they are prepared.
I was originally drawn to the colors which I thought were beautiful and relaxing. I present them in a chaotic way where the original scene is lost in the colors that the artist originally presented.
